Hey Dave-Don't know if you remember me-I met you the last time I was in for 1A time (sometimes I call it A1 time, but then I remember I'm not a steak). I was there for about the 12th time and my neck is completely full of scar tissue, so they can't do the right heart cath for a while, but Dr. Popjes says not to worry- they can go in through the groin for biopsies and even put a swan there! They've decided that they can't wait for a heart for me any longer-it's been over two years-so I'm going in Tuesday, getting a Heart Pump on Friday. Hope you have better luck! -Dee Schroll
Hi Dee! I do remember. Sorry to hear about the pump situation - that really sucks. Hopefully the real thing isn't too far behind. I have the same problem on my right side, so they're holding off on any more caths for awhile. It's kind of irritating because Clemson told me that happens sometimes from the caths being too large, and they finally harrassed the cath lab into using smaller ones. My question is, why weren't they doing that from the beginning? It really sucks if you need long-term biopsies and caths for various reasons. I guess they'll start using the left side until it's scarred up too, then it's to the groin. Not looking forward to an entire week (or longer) with a stupid femoral cath, but whatcha gonna do, right?
You'll be in our thoughts Tuesday, good luck! Hopefully you'll at least feel better on the pump. Let me know what happens!
